Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Silk, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use our service. These terms apply to all users, including free and premium subscribers.
Eligibility
Silk is for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live, if higher) to use Silk, and you confirm this when you create an account. Silk contains sexually explicit written fiction for adults. Do not use Silk if adult content is illegal where you live or if you do not wish to read it.
Account Registration
To access certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
- Be responsible for all activity under your account
- Not share your account with others
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Subscription and Payments
Free Tier
A free account includes access to our curated story library and 3 free credits to create your own stories. No payment information is required.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions are billed monthly in US dollars: Starter at $6.99/month (3 credits per month), Plus at $11.99/month (8 credits per month), and Unlimited at $19.99/month (subject to a fair-use limit of 2 stories or chapters per day). One credit creates one story or one new chapter. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled.
Cancelling: you can cancel at any time from your Dashboard (“Manage Subscription”), or by emailing support@readsilk.com. Cancellation stops future payments and takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you keep your plan until then.
Add-On Credits
Additional credits can be purchased for $3.99 per credit. Purchased credits never expire and remain available even if you cancel your subscription.
Refund Policy
If a story or chapter fails to generate, the credit is automatically returned to your account. If you were charged in error or something went wrong with a payment, email support@readsilk.com within 30 days and we will investigate and refund where appropriate. Otherwise subscription fees for a billing period that has already started are non-refundable, except where the law where you live gives you a right to a refund. We aim to respond to all refund requests within 3 business days.
Content and Intellectual Property
Curated Stories
All stories in our curated library remain the property of Silk. You may read and enjoy these stories for personal use but may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.
Custom Generated Stories
Stories you generate using our custom story feature are yours to keep and use for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not sell, publish commercially, or claim sole authorship of AI-generated content. You acknowledge that similar stories may be generated for other users based on similar prompts.
Your Input
By submitting custom story requests (character names, scenarios, etc.), you grant us the right to use this input to generate your story. We will not share your specific custom requests with other users, but we may use anonymized data to improve our AI models.
Prohibited Uses
You agree not to:
- Use Silk for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
- Request or attempt to generate any content involving anyone under 18, or anyone described as a child or in a school setting, in a romantic or sexual context
- Request content involving family members (including step-family), animals, real or identifiable people, or any sexual activity that is not fully consensual
- Request content promoting violence, hate speech, or discrimination
- Try to get around our content safeguards
- Attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or compromise our systems
- Use automated tools to scrape or download content in bulk
- Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit generated stories without permission
- Impersonate others or provide false information
- Interfere with other users' enjoyment of the service
Content Moderation
Every story request is automatically checked before it is written, and every story is checked again before it is shown. Requests that break our content rules are refused (no credit is used). All characters in any romantic or sexual situation are adults, and all intimate scenes are consensual. Our stories also never include graphic violence, pregnancy, or degradation. We may suspend or close accounts that repeatedly try to break these rules, and we will report suspected child sexual abuse material to the appropriate authorities.
Reporting a Concern
If you see anything on Silk that you believe is illegal or breaks these rules, or you have a complaint about the service, email support@readsilk.com with “Report” in the subject and a link to the story if you have one. We review every report within 7 business days and remove content that breaks these terms.
AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
All stories on Silk are fictional and generated using artificial intelligence from third-party providers. Any resemblance to real people is coincidental. While we strive for quality, AI-generated content may occasionally contain errors, inconsistencies, or unexpected outputs. We do not guarantee that every story will meet your expectations. Stories are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Silk and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim related to Silk shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the past 12 months, or $100, whichever is greater.
Service Availability
We strive to maintain continuous service availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend service temporarily for maintenance, updates, or due to circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any losses resulting from service interruptions.
Termination
You may close your account at any time by emailing support@readsilk.com; we will delete your account and stories within 30 days. Cancel any subscription first so you are not charged again. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you violate these terms, without prior notice or refund. Upon termination, your right to access Silk ceases immediately.
Changes to Terms
We may modify these terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by email or through the platform. Continued use of Silk after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you should discontinue use and cancel your subscription.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction where Silk operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
